Big Rig-18 Wheelers, Diesel Trucks, by whatever they are called, they can represent one of the most dangerous types of freeway accidents, simply due to their size and the fact that many truck drivers are pushed by employers, directly or indirectly, to drive long hours. This can sometimes lead to big rig accidents resulting from drivers being asleep at the wheel, often with devastating consequences.
18 Wheelers, Big Rigs, a Danger on California Freeways!
Truck accidents are far too common on our freeways, and the consequences
are often fatal.
For example, in a recent big-rig truck accident case, a personal injury
and wrongful death action, the plaintiffs alleged that the defendant truck
driver and his employer, Walmart, caused serious personal injury and wrongful
death. Plaintiffs alleged and the trial court found, that the driver of
the Walmart truck was negligent by failing to allow a Subaru on the freeway
on-ramp, which was entering the freeway at the same time as the truck,
to enter the number 2 lane ahead of the truck.
This, according to the trial court, caused the Subaru to ultimately enter
the lane of in which plaintiffs were traveling in an SUV, which caused
the SUV's driver to lose control and rollover several times, resulting
in death and serious injury to the SUV's occupants. Click
